Mount Toubkal
Discover the Jbel Toubkal
Since the rise of the Jbel Toubkal by the Marquis de Ségonzac in 1923, many of us want to follow his steps to climb the 4,167 m leading to this mythical summit, the highest in Morocco and North Africa.
Climb Mount Toubkal
Impressive reliefs, stone and earth’s villages, terraced fields clinging to the side of narrow valleys, the ascent of Jbel Toubkal will offer you a discovery of the Atlas during sporting excursions, a few kilometers from Marrakech.
The landscape of the massif is very varied, many rivers sources are found in this place and irrigate the numerous and small valleys in which the crops grow on terraced fields. Several summits over 3,500 m, whose peaks are connected by stony mule trails, proudly display their eternal snows.
Its slopes offer beautiful forests of holm oaks and cedar, at their edges the lucky ones will be able to see gazelles or even bighorn sheeps.
The most popular Toubkal climb is only 2 days and start from Imlil. However, many guides and agencies also offer hikes spanning several days that can take various routes …
Periods
From October to May
The Imlil valley and the ascent of the Toubkal’s summit are beautiful, the sky is clearer and the contrasts more pronounced, but the temperatures are particularly low and the snow is omnipresent. The experience of the winter mountain is recommended with the use of ice ax and crampons.
From May to October
The sky is cloudier, but nature is generous and the temperatures are fairly mild, despite the rather cool morning. It is during this period that the most hikers climb this mount.
